What do you do about your STINKING THINKING?
When I went on Pioneer Trek as a 15 year old we were not allowed to bring a tooth brush or tooth paste.
It was terrible not being able to brush my teeth.
I love the feeling I get every 6 months after having my teeth cleaned.
I can’t help but rub my tongue on my clean, smooth teeth.
But then I eat something (which is sometimes a donut on the way home from the dentist) so I need to floss and brush.
In fact, I need to brush and floss twice a day.
Every. Single. Day.
Some days I eat my yummy salad that I sprinkle Everything Bagel Seasoning on top and those cute little poppy seeds get stuck in my teeth, so I have to brush or floss for an extra time.
Or at a minimum, at least look at my teeth, so I don't walk around with a chunk of spinach decorating my smile.
Sometimes I have an unexpected toothache where I am in a lot of pain, so I take care of those things as well.
I have spent more than my fair share in a dentist chair getting crowns, root canals, and implants.
Teeth need maintenance.
This is just a part of life I just plan on, I am not ashamed of it, and I am willing to pay for it.
Did you know the same is true for your mental and emotional health?
Your brain needs mental hygiene at least, if not more so, than your teeth do.
This is what I do as a life coach.
I help you promote mental hygiene.
Sometimes we get stinking thinking.
I am going to call that cerebral halitosis.
Sometimes, we do deeper work to help you take care of painful thoughts and the emotional pain that can fester like a looming abscess.
When our loved ones leave the church we have all sorts of things going on in our brain.
Stinking Thinking will cause your to disconnect in your relationships.
All the difficult emotions to deal with, not knowing how to move forward, and wondering if you will ever feel happy again.
Teeth need regular check-ups.
So do brains.
Is it time you started prioritizing your mental hygiene?
