This Is Hard…
A few years ago I ran my first and only marathon.
I knew it would be really hard and I did it anyway.
I knew that having babies was going to hurt, and I was still all in (especially with that blessed epidural).
I knew starting my own business for sure wasn’t going to be easy, yet I still went for it.
There are a lot of things in life that are hard.
When we expect things to be hard for some reason the hard doesn’t feel so hard.
Your loved one left the church, what if you just expected that sometimes it will be hard?
Not in a pessimistic way, but in a realistic way.
Things may not look the same.
You will have experiences and conversations you hadn’t planned on.
You are going to feel some grief, disappointment, and sadness.
What's the best way to prepare for this?
Plan on it and when it gets hard, don’t make it mean things have gone wrong.
When we expect things to be hard, when the hard comes, our brains don’t freak out as much.
On the flip side of this, plan on seeing God’s hand in your life.
Expect personal revelation.
Plan on miracles.
Bank on becoming a better version of yourself.
Anticipate feeling love, hope, peace and connection.
Having a loved one leave the church is hard AND full of miracles.
Beautiful + Brutal = BRUTIFUL
Tell your brain the whole truth of what it is like to be in a mixed faith relationship.
