Ready To Give Up On Your New Year’s Resolutions?
Did you know that 1/17/24 is Ditch Your Resolution Day?
For some of us New Year's Resolutions are about as effective as pouring water into a colander.
I found something that really worked for me and my goals.
Last year I saw many of my friends posting on Instagram about all the books they had read over the year: 25, 53, 72 books.
Pretty sure I had read 2.
I felt like I should make a big goal like 2 a month, but then I realized that was pretty unlikely and I would give up quick.
Instead, I made a goal to read ONE PAGE A DAY.
I wasn't perfect, but I bet I read 355/365 days of the year.
Most days I ended up reading more than a page.
It felt good to keep that commitment to myself and helped me stay motivated.
That feels so much better than beating myself up because I gave up on an unrealistic resolution.
And guess what....I read about 10 books!
I call this under promise and overdeliver.
Start small, meet yourself where you are at, and be kind to yourself.
Give it a try!
Until next Friday...
Make a great day!
Chris
