Getting Into The Grey Zone
Most of us have ideas about how things should look, and when life doesn’t match up, it can feel overwhelming.
We fall into patterns like:
It’s either working or it’s not.
It’s right or wrong.
It’s all or nothing.
This “all-or-nothing” or black-and-white thinking can leave us feeling stuck and limit our growth.
If you’re looking to invite more balance, start exploring the grey by using words like:
Maybe. Possibly. Perhaps. Starting to. Leaning towards. Learning to. Imagining.
Rather than “We have to do everything his way” or “We won’t attend at all,” try, “We’re starting to find ways to participate in a way that feels good for both of us,” or “Maybe we’ll take turns leading certain events or blend traditions to respect both sides.”
What other words help you embrace the grey zone?
