Do You NEED To Be Right?
Do you struggle with communicating?
I feel like I am always (and forever will be) trying to develop better communication skills.
When we are in a mixed faith relationship, communication can feel tricky at times.
I have discovered that one of the best things we can do is to drop the need to be right.
If I am "right" that means the other person is "wrong".
I won and they lost.
That in and of itself is disconnecting.
I like to ask myself some questions:
Am I communicating to convince or to understand?
Where will proving I am right get me?
How can I see this through their point of view?
What can I do in this conversation to build a bridge instead of a wall?
When you drop the need to be right, you drop the need to be defensive.
Without defense, there is no need for offense, and the war is over.
