Come Follow Me
On the cover of the Come Follow Me manual, I am thankful for the phrase "for individuals and families".
My family has no interest in doing Come Follow Me...none.
It is important to me, so I study it as an individual.
I was reading the following passage, "President Russell M. Nelson has invited you to “transform [your] home into a sanctuary of faith” and to “remodel your home into a center of gospel learning.” To those who do these things, he promised: “Your children will be excited to learn and to live the Savior’s teachings, and the influence of the adversary in your life and in your home will decrease. Changes in your family will be dramatic and sustaining”.
As I read those words, I felt sadness because I was thinking that doesn't work with my family.
But then I read the next scriptures that went along with this passage.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be ANY virtue, and if there be ANY praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS.
My home may not feel like a center of gospel learning, but there is a lot of good going on.
A LOT.
Think on THESE things.
Focus on the ways things ARE working in your mixed faith relationships.
My home may not look like I thought it would, but there is so much good to report.
There is a lot of love, respect, goodness, peace, joy, love, honest conversations and a heck of a lot of fun.
When I focus on THESE THINGS, I feel hope.
The eye sees what the brain looks for.
Be intentional about what you are looking for.
Seek and ye shall find.
We think that the things that happen outside of us create how we feel on the inside. What if we are wrong about that? How could that be GREAT NEWS?!
In this episode you will learn:
What happens when we give our power over to our circumstances.
What really creates our emotions.
How to get more power in our lives.
