I Did It Again

I am kind of embarrassed.

In last week's message I was telling you about the time I walked around with a rock in my shoe for a few minutes and stopped to take it out and the lesson I learned from it.

Well, I did it again this week except I didn’t take the rock out this time.

I was on a walk and didn’t want to take off my cozy, warm, shearling boots so I kept walking.

By the time I got home, my heel HURT.

It was tender for about 2 days.

This time, I learned a new lesson: before I put my boots... on check for rocks.

Not just to shake them out, but to stick my hand in that cozy boot and see what is in there.

Even the smallest rocks can easily hide in the thick shearling and cause discomfort.

Did you know our thoughts can be like little rocks?

Our thoughts create our emotions.

One thing I like to do at the beginning of my day is do a brain dump.

I write down all the things I am thinking about.

I let my thoughts flow on paper.

Then I ask myself all sorts of questions about those thoughts:

Is this really true?

Does that thought serve me?

Will this thought help me to be the person I want to be?

Is there another way of looking at this?

If I don't dump out my brain before I start my day and find those thoughts that may cause me pain, I often pay the price for those thoughts later.

Try dumping out your thoughts before stepping into your day.

If you need some help with this I would love to help you find out what is really causing your pain.
