Wanting to connect?

I know for me and most of my clients, our main hope is to connect with our loved ones that have left the church.

Sometimes we think we are connecting when actually we aren't, we are just talking business.

A lot of what we talk about; the schedules, what is for dinner, what happened in the day, what is going on, yada, yada, yada is actually NOT connecting.

If you want to connect instead of just getting the 411 try some of these:

  • Get really curious.

  • Ask open ended questions.

  • Don't try to fix things.

  • Find out if it is a good time to talk.

  • It is hard to connect with someone you see as a villain (this was a big one for me! My life coach helped me with this and helped me to change my marriage. When you are ready to talk to a coach, I know a good one;)

  • Listen to them, really listen. We often are not listening, we are coming up with a response in our head.

  • Validate their feelings ( you don't have to agree with them to validate them).

  • Focus more on understanding them instead of being understood.

  • Pray for guidance on how you can connect with them instead of trying to change them.

If you are struggling to connect with your loved one, I get it and know how to help.

I would love to chat with you.
