Unless You Have A Time Machine...Regret Doesn't Help
Have you ever done something or said something you wished you hadn't?
Of course you have...you are a human!
That is why we are here, to learn and to grow.
Many of us have this idea that regret is necessary or important.
Did you know you don't have to regret your past in order to move on?
Unless you have a time machine, and I would love to borrow it if you do, we don’t have the ability to go back in time and change anything and there is no advantage to wishing we could.
It doesn't fix things.
Regret doesn’t inspire us to do or be better.
All regret does is punish us and keeps us from showing up as our best selves.
Regret can stop us from putting our goodness into the world because it often leads to shame.
It doesn't serve us and just makes us feel terrible.
Peace comes when we learn to accept what is and let go of the idea that regret is helpful.
The atonement of Jesus Christ, compassion for ourselves, and commitment to learning from our experiences are what will move us forward.
