Loving Interpretations

It is easy to jump to conclusions in life.

In fact, I have a friend that told me that jumping to conclusions was her favorite form of exercise.

Our brains want answers, they want to make meaning out of our situations.

Our brains like to make up all sorts of stories that might not really serve us.

It feels so much better to come up with a loving interpretation of a situation.

Instead of thinking your teenager is a slob, try on, I bet they were more excited about the Tik Tok video instead of putting their dish in the dishwasher.

When you get cut off in traffic instead of thinking what a jerk someone is, give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they need a restroom.

When Sister Smith doesn't smile at you from across the chapel, instead of making it mean she is judging you, is it possible she is a human that might be near sided, or maybe she is thinking about her upcoming lesson?

Instead of thinking your spouse is selfish, come up with a more loving interpretation, maybe they really could use some self care.

We are the ones that feel our emotions.

When we assume the best in people, it feels so much better.
