How Do You Want To Feel On Sundays?
I have a little secret for you...
Did you now that you can decide ahead of time how you want to feel about something?
Yep, it is true.
Our brains LOVE to solve problems.
If we don't give them a problem to solve... they will find all sorts of problems on their own.
Sometimes our brains are about as helpful as a 4 year old doing dishes...not very helpful.
Many of us in mixed faith relationships struggle with Sundays.
Our brains like us to believe that we don't belong at church, Sundays are hard, our family is a disaster, we are doing the Sabbath wrong, this isn't the way it is supposed to look, etc.
Our brains can find evidence for why all those things are true if that is what we are focus on.
Give your brain a new job.
Decide ahead of time how you want to feel on Sundays.
Do you want to feel peace, love, connection?
Do you want to delight in the sabbath?
You have to be the boss of your brain, not the other way around.
Your brain means well, but sometimes it would rather be right about what is thinking than happy.
Keep reminding your brain how you want to feel.
When you notice a thought that doesn't align with your goal, just gently redirect your brain.
Decide ahead of time how you want to feel.
It is magic.
