Equal Air Time

Do you ever read/watch the news and feel like they are only reporting on the terrible things going on in the world?

When I notice myself feeling that way, I intentionally try to find good news to balance things out.

I like to give equal air time to both sides.

Did you know you can do this when your brain is only offering you bad news about your life?

When your loved one stops going to church your brain offers you all sorts of catastrophes: they will get into drugs, become an alcoholic, and end up in prison.

I am guessing I am not the only one who falls down this rabbit hole.

When I do, I like to answer my brain with...maybe...but... and then look at what else could be true.

They may not go to church AND still be kind, loving, people that put good into the world.

I'm not suggesting you ignore the negative thoughts, just show your brain that things could work out just as likely as things going terribly...maybe even more so.
