The Guard Dog In Your Brain
You may not know this but you have a very protective guard dog in your brain.
His job is to keep you safe.
He means well, but he freaks out over a scampering squirrel to the same degree as an intruder walking away with your big screen tv.
Sometimes issues come up in our mixed faith relationships that send our guard dogs into a frenzy: a faith transition, talk of our loved one getting a tatoo, finding unexpected alcohol in the home, hearing of a situation that we worry could happen to our loved one, etc.
When emotions come up we want to let the dog bark and allow the emotion.
In this podcast episode, you will learn all about allowing emotion.
After the dog has had a chance to bark, an amazing thing happens.
You also have a wise old owl that lives in your brain.
He doesn't stick around when the dog is freaking out so he flies off.
Once "Killer" is done barking, the owl flies back.
The owl is great at making decisons and helping you to show up as the person you really want to be.
When emotions are high intelligence is low.
Allow the emotion and then make decisions with with the owl in the drivers seat.
